Maxy is a director/DOP with a visual narrative focus, combining technical skill and a talent for telling emotive stories. This soulful surfer from the North Island of New Zealand is the guy you want to go on the road with. A technician and an artist in equal measure, he’s inquisitive, thoughtful, clued up, hands on and solutions-focused. Simply put, he gets shit done.

Maxy is a man’s man. Think beer, cars and the great outdoors. Conversely, he is a sensitive guy with the talent to draw stories from the depths of people and his driving motivation is having the potential to touch others with his film and photography. You could say he’s got his feet on the ground while at the same time looking at the stars.

With a background in stills photography, Maxy finds beauty in places and faces. A farm boy at heart, he sees human nature and Mother Nature as being innately intertwined.

His competitive nature drives him to make the best out of any job. Big or small, he loves the challenge of a good creative brief. He’ll always go back to the seed of the idea in order to gain a deep understanding of the process before his engagement. He goes above and beyond with creatives and collaboration is a huge part of his world as a director, it’s one of the reasons he loves his job.
